LINDA YOUNG
1963 - Lemoyne D'Iberville
I left St. Bruno in 1964, right after I finished Lemoyne, and moved with
my family to Windsor Ontario, where I went to business school and worked
for General Motors until the end of 1966. . I moved with my family again
in 1967 to Oakville, Ontario where I secured work with the Ford Motor
Company, working for the Plant Manager until I retired on Dec. 21, 2001.
I took a short sabbatical when the plant short shifted and I was laid
off between 1980 and 1987 due to low seniority. I had three hobbies I
really enjoyed and turned them into full time work during my layoff
period. I collected, restored and sold antiques. I did paper hanging and
painting and finally jumped at the chance in 1984 when a friend of mine
asked me to help him open a computer business. I ran the business and
the office, he brought in the sales and we both worked the computer
show. Business finally started to fall apart around the end of 1986 when
I branched out myself from home. I did machine set ups, teaching and
finally found a good dollar producing hundreds of letters using
databases.
I returned to Ford in 1987 were I worked for the Branch Manager of the
Tractor Division, following that with another stint in the Plant
Manager's office until my retirement in 2001 after 35 years.
And, that's my work life! My social life has had a few burps and
hiccups. I was a party girl when I was younger. Was engaged 2 or 3
times, even shared a closet now and then, but had lead in my shoes when
it came to marriage. I'm presently living in my Dad's home in Oakville
while he has retired to NFLD, first with a 2nd wife who passed on as did
my Mother several years earlier, and now he is on his own with regular
visits from his children. My latest interests are antiques, digital
cameras and RV's. Haven't purchased an RV yet but am steadily looking.
Am also looking for ideas for this digital camera I bought if anyone out
there has one. In the meantime, this had been my life. I hope you
enjoyed it.
