PHIL KENNY
(Deceased May 2011)
1964 - Lemoyne D'Iberville
After graduating from
Lemoyne D'Iberville, I joined the Royal Canadian Navy and
obtained my commission in 1965. The Navy ultimately became my life.
While stationed in Halifax, I met a cute young thing called Carol, who
became, in 1968, and still is, my wife. Somehow, we managed to produce
two gorgeous daughters who were finally encouraged to leave home and now
live in Toronto.
During my career, we lived in Nova Scotia, Ottawa, and Victoria. I was
also pleased to live for two years in Virginia Beach, Virginia and then
for 4 years in London, England. The Navy was very good to me!
Somewhere in there I attended Saint Mary's University in Halifax - home
of the Huskies!
I took slightly early retirement in 1994 and accepted a short-term
position as Manager of the Chamber of Commerce in Bridgewater, Nova
Scotia, about an hour from Halifax on Nova Scotia's glorious south
shore. That was 8 years ago and I'm still doing it. We bought a century
old home in LaHave, (pop 190) at the corner of the LaHave River and the
Atlantic Ocean, and Carol ran a B&B there until packing it in in 2000.
Too much smiling and too many early mornings.
Life continues to be good in our very peaceful corner of the world.
